General Mitchell International Airport (MKE) is a joint civil and military airport. The Bayshore Green Line and Route 80 buses connect to MKE, and Amtrak accesses the airport as well. If you are driving, WI-794 S will get you to MKE in about 20 minutes.

Flights to San Diego International Airport (SAN) usually have more than one stop, but if you secure a nonstop flight, you’re looking at four hours in duration. SAN is very close to downtown San Diego; a quick 10-minute drive down N Harbor Drive will get you to the city, and bus routes 992 and 923 offer service to the area as well.

Attractions and tips

Torrey Pines and La Jolla Beach are two of San Diego’s most popular beach destinations. Animal lovers of all ages will delight in the popular San Diego Zoo and the rugged San Diego National Wildlife Refuge, about 1/2 hour east of the city in Escondido.
