Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is 10 miles northwest of Sacramento, CA via I-5. The Yolobus can take you there from most places in Sacramento.
The flight duration to Hartsfield-Jackson International (ATL) is approximately four hours, and the airport is located just off I-285 between the College Park and Forest Park areas. Public buses cover the seven miles to downtown Atlanta or anywhere you may want to go in the area.
Buckhead is a historic district in Atlanta housing shops and other attractions. Chastain Amphitheatre features regular concerts set before a field of green and follows a BYOB policy.
The top floor of Phipps Plaza, also in Buckhead, features the LEGOLAND Discovery Center and one of the world's largest LEGO brick boxes. Atlanta's film business is alive and well, and you can see locations formerly where hits like The Blindside and The Walking Dead were filmed. You might even catch filming in action! Stone Mountain, considered to be a sort of Confederate Mount Rushmore, is a quick half-hour drive on I-20 E.
Atlanta weather is fairly temperate, with highs around 50 in the winter and lows of about 35. The summer is hot, and June through September sees regular highs in the 80s. The roads can get busy in Atlanta, so make sure you give yourself plenty of travel time to see the sights.
