Whether you are headed to San Diego from Seattle for business or vacation, you'll be taking a trip from one pleasant coastal city to another, albeit a sunnier one. San Diego may have a lot more sun than Seattle, but it has a similar small city feel compared to other large California cities. There's plenty to do and see when you have reliable transportation.
After you procure your rental car at San Diego International Airport (SAN), you can immediately head for the Pacific Beach, and enjoy miles of sand and surf. Once you've soaked in some sun and are ready to explore, your rental car will get you into the downtown nightlife, or historic Mission Valley.
Staying near the airport is also an option as SAN is less than three miles from the bustling San Diego downtown. Visit a few museums such as the Maritime Museum of San Diego, or the Chinese Historical Society and Museum. If you're in town during baseball season, you can take in a game at nearby PETCO Park, home of the San Diego Padres.
The flight from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) to San Diego is usually just under three hours. Many nonstop flights from Seattle to San Diego International Airport are available, but others may stop in Portland, San Francisco or Los Angeles.
