Punta Cana is an island destination with affordable amenities, golf courses, and twelve gorgeous beaches including the stunning Macao Beach, currently listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Bordering both the Caribbean and Atlantic oceans, travelers can stay in a variety of luxury hotels while on the island, in areas known as "balnearios" while enjoying a variety of activities including whale watching, catamaran sailing or sport fishing.
Spend the day lounging on Macao or Bavaro Beach where you can snorkel, dive or rent a glass-bottomed boat. Hikers can work up at appetite at the Indigenous Eyes Ecological Park (head to the lagoon!) and after, all are welcome at the happening Hard Rock Cafe in Bavaro.
When entering the Dominican Republic, you will need to purchase a tourist card which is time stamped from one month to over five years. If you remain past your expiration date, you will pay a small penalty - so when in doubt, estimate a longer stay just in case!
