Philadelphia International (PHL) is located a short ride down I-95 from Philadelphia's downtown, as well as being connected to a wide regional rail network. There are several flights a day between PHL and HNL, and the flight duration is usually around ten hours. From Honolulu International (HNL) to other parts of Oahu; travelers can take either the H-1 Freeway or the Nimitz Highway. The drive into Honolulu is about 20 minutes, and buses into the center are available as well.
Honolulu is home to Pearl Harbor and several museums dedicated to World War II's Pacific War, including the USS Arizona Memorial. Military buffs will also want to visit the USS Missouri Memorial dedicated to this historic battleship. Take the kids to the Honolulu Zoo for some fun with the animals after they've learned some of the World War II history, and the Waikiki Aquarium will educate them on sea life. The entire family can snorkel in Waikiki's Queens Beach for an up-close experience.
Hawaii is in the tropics and has a different weather pattern than the rest of the US. The best time to visit is in spring or autumn, as summer tends to be very hot and winter is usually quite wet; hurricane season last from June to September.
