Most visitors fly to Hawaii via Honolulu International Airport (HNL) located on the island of Oahu. It's the largest in population of the Hawaiian Islands and is known as "The Gathering Place". Honolulu is the state's capital and is famous for Waikiki Beach, Pearl Harbor and Diamond Head Crater.
Surfers love the waves at Waikiki while historians are in awe of the battleships and World War II museum. Those who enjoy hiking and scenic views enjoy visiting Diamond Head. Kapiolani Park, Sea Life Park, and Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve are also here. There are many resorts on the Pacific coastline, with golf courses and beautiful swimming pools.
Getting Around
The airport has four active runways with 27 domestic and international carriers. You'll be able to fly to any of the other islands, including Hawaii, Maui, Kauai, Lanai, and Molokai from HNL via three interisland airlines. Passengers commute from the main terminal to different gates using the Wiki Wiki buses. There is usually adequate parking and you can reach Honolulu by bus, taxi, car, bus or shuttle.
