New York John F Kennedy International (JFK) Airport is situated about 15 miles away from Manhattan and tends to attract a lot of traffic, so if you are looking to avoid it, take the Long Island Rail Road or the subway to the AirTrain station to get the airport efficiently. Flight times are usually about five-and-a-half hours to Long Beach Municipal (LGB) Airport. Because the airport is only three miles from downtown Long Beach, the Long Beach Transit bus is a great option. You can also take a taxi, shuttle or rental car.

Attractions and Tips

The Aquarium of the Pacific is an attraction for people of all ages. There are exhibits that guests can interact with and plenty of underwater sea creatures to observe. Catalina Island is only about an hour away from Long Beach, so consider taking a boat tour across the waters. Once there, consider trying out a zip-line tour or explore Crescent Avenue filled with storefronts and even a candy shop; when you get back to the mainland, head over to the Long Beach Waterfront to relax.

Much like a large portion of California, Long Beach experiences a lot of sunshine. In the summer, there are some low flying clouds and fog that can put a damper on the morning, but most of the time they clear up by the late afternoon. Humidity is not a problem.
