Manila Ninoy Aquino International (MNL) is the main airport serving Manila, Philippines and the surrounding area. It is accessible via Quezon Avenue, Aurora Boulevard, the Metro Manila Skyway and the Manila Cavite Expressway. Flight times are usually two to three hours long to Bangkok International (BKK), and upon arrival in Bangkok, transportation is available on The Motorway and the Bang Na-Chon Buri Expressway.

Attractions

The Grand Palace was built in 1782 and has been used by generations of royalty. It is widely known for its opulence and splendor and its Jade Buddha. Wat Pho is a temple that is famed for its statue of a Reclining Buddha. The National Museum and Wang Na Palace was the only museum in Thailand up until the mid-1970s, so its collection of Asian artifacts is extensive and ancient.

The Chatuchak Market is the largest market in the world, featuring more than 15,000 stalls selling souvenirs, produce, clothing, artifacts and restaurant foods. The Khao San Road is a district of backpackers, filled with guesthouses, clothing stores, food vendors and lots of other backpackers and travelers.

Hints and tips

The rainy season in Hong Kong is from May to September, so a visit during that timeframe should include wet weather gear. That is also the warmest time of year, and temperatures frequently rise into the 80s and 90s. Other seasons are both cooler and drier.
