Travelers who are flying into Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) will find themselves close to the capital city and all of the amazing sights, sounds and smells of this urban metropolis. As one of Thailand's top cities, Bangkok offers its guests affordable lodging options, and some of the best food in the world, with restaurants like Hajime Robot. Outside of Bangkok, travelers looking to explore further afield, can venture north to Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai for a taste of Thai culture, or they can head south to the beaches of Phuket to soak up the sun.
While it is possible to get around Bangkok by car, travelers may consider taking the city's public transit options. From a sprawling metro to a host of tuk-tuks, people in the capital are finding ways to beat the traffic. A host of airlines can take you from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, or to Phuket, or travelers can opt to take an overnight train or a bus to get to these outlying areas.
Travelers should make the time to escape to Ko Phi Phi while they are in the south of the country. Ko Phi Phi has recovered since a massive typhoon hit the island in 2004, and the area is beautiful, exciting and welcoming to travelers.
