To get to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD), you can travel via the CTA, Metra Rail and Pace Suburban Bus, or you can also take advantage of taxis and shuttles to get you there.
The flight from ORD to Punta Cana Airport (PUJ) lasts about four-and-a-half hours and once you arrive in the Dominican Republic, you can rent a car, grab a taxi or take advantage of your hotels’ shuttle service, if it offers one.
Grab a swimsuit and head to Bavaro Beach, one of the best public beaches in Punta Cana. Consider taking an excursion out to Catalina Island to do a little scuba diving or snorkeling in the clear, blue waters. Be sure to bring a snack, as the entire experience tends to make for a long day. Most tours include some type of meal, but it usually takes a little over an hour to get to the island from Punta Cana.
Expect consistent temperatures, as most days are around 80 degrees in Punta Cana. From May to October, things can heat up as the humidity increases and temperatures can go all the way up to the mid-90s. There is very little rainfall throughout the year.
