The Avett Brothers's popularity continued to grow as they released albums and polished their unique sound. Their singles became wildly popular through their inclusion on TV show and movie soundtracks, including hits like "I and Love and You," "Live and Die," and "Kick Drum Heart." Testing the Limits
The band’s 2016 album True Sadness gained mixed reviews from many. Although not all critics were on board with the risk in music they took, the album did debut at number three on the Billboard Top 200, as well as landing on the U.S. Folk and U.S. Top Rock charts. The album was even nominated for two Grammy awards. Based on the success they’ve had over the years, the band was indicted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in October 2016. If critics had any doubts about their music, it sure didn’t persuade them to stop.
