About Gary Clark Jr.
Born under a bad sign on February 15, 1984, Gary Clark Jr. has been called many things, ranging from the "The Future of the Blues" to "The Chosen One," and for good reason. The man from Austin, Texas, has found a way to meld various forms of the blues with rock n' roll, R&B, modern hip-hop and more - much more. And by various forms of the blues, we mean all of them, ranging from the Mississippi Delta to Chicago electric styles and beyond.
Starting with a bang
His two studio albums have been as eclectic as they are perfectly in sync, with the performer finding unique ways to connect the dots between such a diversity of genres and time periods, making him a one-of-a-kind showman in the modern music scene. Gary Clark Jr.'s first big hit was "Bright Lights," which he played in front of tens of thousands of people at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Festival in Chicago when he was first coming up. At that point, cheap Gary Clark Jr. tickets were easy to come by, as the musician was hardly known and playing tiny venues across the nation. Now, his first hit has been complemented by others like "The Healing," propelling him into international stardom.
Awards and accolades
Back in 2014, not long after Gary Clark Jr. released his first album, he received the Grammy Award for Best Traditional R&B Performance for his song "Please Come Home." He has also won the Austin Music Award for Best Blues and Electric Guitarist three times, and even had a day devoted to him as a teenager in his home town. Gary Clark Jr.'s influences are heavily rooted in the deep blues, including early legends like Jimmy Reed, B.B. King, Albert Collins and Lightnin' Hopkins. However, hailing from Texas, he was certainly impacted by the great Stevie Ray Vaughan, as well as the past 40 years of soul, R&B, hip hop, rock n' roll and countless other genres. He himself has called his style "schizophrenic." Gary Clark Jr. has been known to play a combination of his beloved repertoire mixed with a range of covers, including some from the blues and rock n' roll genres. He is also known to sell out shows relatively quickly no matter where he plays. Gary Clark Jr. is coming off of the release of the renowned "Legend of Sunny Boy Slim" record, and continues to expand his reach into new music scenes. He also just had his first child with his wife Nicole Trunfio. This is one performer you will surely be upset to miss, and his tickets are hot across the market â get yours as soon as possible to avoid getting sold out and not seeing this one-of-a-kind dynamo of the modern music scene.
