The Return of a Juggernaut

The University of Wisconsin-Madison dominated right from the beginning of its program, snagging a dozen Big 10 championships in less than thirty years. In 1941 the team made its NCAA Tournament debut, defying expectations to win the championship title in a 39-34 victory against Washington State. However, after such an epic peak, the Badgers fell into a competitive lull. It wasn't until the late 1980s that the team sparked of promise again, appearing in the 1989 NIT. In 1994 Wisconsin made its first NCAA Tournament appearance since its 1941 win. It was under the leadership of Coaches Dick Bennett and Bo Ryan that the Badgers gained new territory in the NCAA. In 2000 the team made it all the way to the Final Four, falling to the eventual champion, Michigan State. Since then, the Badgers have torn up their rivals in an effort to reclaim their early fame. They are now regular NCAA Tournament competitors and have secured the conference championship several times.
