Becoming a gold standard
TLC's story starts in Atlanta, when singer Crystal Jones recruited Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins and Lisa "Left-Eye" Lopes to start a hip hop girl group. Initially called 2nd Nature, the artist performed for Perri "Pebbles" Reid, founder of Pebbitone. Before signing with Pebbitone, the girls changed their name to TLC – and Jones left the group. She was replaced by Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas. Their debut album, Ooooooohhh... On the TLC Tip, blended funk, hip hop, and R&B, becoming a smash hit album with singles like "Ain't 2 Proud to Beg" and "Baby-Baby-Baby." In 1994 they released their sophomore album, CrazySexyCool, which featured the runaway hit "Waterfalls." They won their first two Grammy Awards and were honored with Billboard's Artist of the Year Award. FanMail followed in 1999 with "No Scrubs." Tragically, Lisa Lopes was killed in a car accident in 2002. The band's fourth album, 3D, features her final TLC songs. Watkins and Thomas decided to continue performing as a duo. However, it would be more than ten years before the pair released their next – and final – album.
With TLC out in 2017, fans are anxious to see these music icons live. Snag your cheap TLC tickets here to party with two of hip hop's greatest artists!
