About Joffrey Ballet
Based in Chicago, Illinois, the Joffrey Ballet is a world-class ballet company that performs a wide array of performances every year, ranging from old classics to more modern pieces and featuring some of the world's most talented dancers, musicians, directors, and choreographers. From the troupe's roots as a rough-and-tumble touring company that consisted of six dancers in a station wagon driving around the country and performing original pieces, they've gone on to become a premier ballet company in a competitive field, staging beautiful productions of classics like Swan Lake and Romeo & Juliet. The troupe was first created by partners Gerald Arpino and Robert Joffrey, and its first home was actually New York City before moving to Chicago and taking up a permanent home there in 1955. Since then, the ballet has been making history with a collection of firsts- the first dance troupe to visit the White House, the first to incorporate multimedia displays into their performances, and the first to be broadcast on television. They have graced the cover of Time magazine and been featured in major motion pictures. The Joffrey Ballet is truly Chicago's gift to the world of dance, and should not be missed by any lover of the art form or anyone who appreciates beauty in all its forms. Behold the magic and buy your tickets to see the one-of-a-kind Joffrey Ballet today.
