Kicking up the country music tunes
Sugarland got its start on the Atlanta folk-rock circuit, founded by Kristen Hall, Kristian Bush, and Jennifer Nettles. Sugarland made a splash with their single "Baby Girl" off of Twice the Speed of Life, an album that went multi-platinum. Kristen Hall departed from the group in 2005 just as their success was snowballing – they recorded "Who Says You Can't Go Home" with Bon Jovi, toured with Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney, and were nominated for the Best New Artist Grammy Award. Nettles and Bush continued as a duo, racking up award nominations and No. 1 hit singles. In 2012 Sugarland decided to take a hiatus, with Bush and Nettles pursuing other projects during the break. Fans waited anxiously for news on the future of the band, which they received during the Country Music Association Awards in 2017. Bush and Nettles announced their return to Sugarland, the single "Still the Same" coming out just a few months later.
