Pioneering the New Romantic movement
Founded in Glasgow in the late 1970s, Simple Minds quickly made a name for themselves as riotous performers. They released their first album, Life in a Day, in 1979. Throughout the 1980s the band again delved into different genres, from soul and gospel in Once Upon a Time to folk melodies and political overtures in Street Fighting Years. Throughout the decades, the band's lineup has shifted, but the spirit of experimentation and their passionate musical drive has kept their fans loyal.
