The search for musical kinship
Growing up in Mexico City, Rodrigo Sanchez and Gabriela Quintero met when Rodrigo's older brother introduced them. Their mutual appreciation for music drew them together, and in the early 1990s Gabriela started playing guitar for Rodrigo and his brother's heavy metal band. Limited by the Mexican rock industry, the couple relocated to Dublin. They poured everything they had into the local music scene, busking and performing at pubs, building up a local fan base that included artists like Damien Rice and Lisa Hannigan. Their album, Rodrigo y Gabriela, shot to the top of the Irish Albums Chart in 2006. Their popularity around the world grew, and soon they were being invited to perform at music festivals like Glastonbury, Latitude, and the Nice Jazz Festival. By this time, Hollywood had taken notice of the entrancing guitar duo, and their work appeared in the soundtracks of Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and Puss in Boots.
Rodrigo y Gabriela concerts allow fans the chance to experience the duo's thrilling nuevo flamenco style the way it's meant to be experienced – straight from the artists themselves. Pick up your cheap Rodrigo y Gabriela tickets today to immerse yourself in the world as these young Mexican stars see it.
