About National League Division Series

The National League Division Series matchups are set! Let's take a look at the four teams that will face off in their quest to reach the NLCS

Atlanta Braves vs. Philadelphia Phillies

After sweeping the St Louis Cardinals in dominant fashion, the Phillies face their NL East rivals, the reigning World Series Champions, Atlanta Braves. After ending a 10-year playoff drought, the Phillies look to extend their hot streak; however, the Braves stand in their way. Atlanta is a seasoned team that won the division by sweeping the New York Mets the final week of the season.

This series will come down to pitching as both clubs have solid rotations. Philly will rely on Zack Wheeler and Aaron Nola who looked sharp in their Wild Card Series. The Braves are led by NL Cy Young candidate Max Fried, Kyle Wright, and Charlie Morton. Game 1 will take place at Truist Park with Ranger Suárez taking the mound for the Phillies, while Max Fried will get the nod for Atlanta.

Los Angeles Dodgers vs. San Diego Padres

After defeating the Mets in the Wild Card Series, the Padres face off against NL West rivals, the Los Angeles Dodgers. All eyes in Southern California will be watching this one. The Dodgers come into the series as heavy favorites. Not only do they own the best regular season record in baseball, but they have a roster and pitching rotation that simply cannot be matched. The deck is heavily stacked against the Padres, as the Dodgers have had 5 full rest days, and home field advantage. It won't be a cakewalk for the Dodgers though, as San Diego has a two-headed monster in their lineup in the form of NL MVP candidate Manny Machado, and slugger Juan Soto.

Game 1 of this series kicks off at Dodger Stadium At the time of this update, neither team has announced who their starting pitcher is, but more than likely this series will come down to pitching. Both teams have formidable rotations. The Dodgers have one of the best pitching staffs in baseball, while the Padres have a former Cy Young winner in Blake Snell, Joe Musgrove who is coming off a masterful Game 3 Wild Card performance, and Yu Darvish who went seven strong innings in Game 1. Baseball fans should be very excited for this series!
