A Vocal Powerhouse in Music and Politics
Melissa Etheridge got into music at an early age, learning guitar while still just a kid. She started performing with her school's music and dance program, and then as a teen she began performing with country bands. After leaving Boston for Los Angeles, she worked the club scene and eventually got her big break into the industry. Her self-titled 1988 debut became a cult hit, the single "Bring Me Some Water" earning her a Grammy nomination. She won her first Grammy a few years later for the song "Ain't It Heavy" off her third album. In 1993 Melissa Etheridge came out as a lesbian, a revelation that she followed with Yes I Am, her most successful album at the time. Singles like "Come to My Window" and "I'm the Only One" became radio megahits, and Melissa Etheridge became a household name. Despite being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, Etheridge continued to write and record prolifically. Throughout the decades Melissa Etheridge has blazed a trail as a modern folk rock activist, and in 2007 she won an Oscar for her song "I Need to Wake Up" for the film An Inconvenient Truth.
Melissa Etheridge's raspy vocals and passionate music has connected with countless fans around the world, and hearing her perform live at Melissa Etheridge concerts is an inspiring experience. Make sure you have a spot at the show by picking up your cheap Melissa Etheridge tickets today!
