R&B's Evolving Sound
Growing up in Baltimore, Mario Dewar Barrett pursued music from an early age. He learned to play the piano and sang with other young musicians. He landed his first recording deal while still just a teenager. In 2001 he entered the music scene with a song on the Dr. Dolittle 2 soundtrack. The following year he released his debut album, with the hit single "Just a Friend 2002." His sophomore album, Turning Point, was an even bigger success, featuring the radio hit "Let Me Love You." He started collaborating with other artists, including stars like Ne-Yo, Gucci Mane, Nicki Minaj, and Timbaland. In 2006 he made his film debut in Step Up, followed by a lead role in Freedom Writers. He's also been a voice against drug addiction, releasing a documentary in 2007 that addressed his mother's heroin addiction and his efforts to help her find freedom from drugs.
With Dancing Shadows released in 2018, his first album in nearly a decade, R&B fans are eager to get into Mario concerts. Make sure you have a spot to sing along to his hits old and new by picking up your cheap Mario tickets here!
