A jukebox musical inspired by and built around the music of worldwide chart-topping Swedish dance and pop band ABBA and their hit album "Mamma Mia" , the musical of the same name (plus an explanation point) features classic danceable hits like "Money, Money, Money" and "Dancing Queen". The story, which is built around the music of ABBA songwriters Bjorn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Stig Andersson, was written by Catherine Johnson and follows the story of a young woman who uses her wedding as an opportunity to discover who her real father is. After discovering diary entries in her mother's journal which suggest that it could be any one of three of her mother's former flames, she invites all three to the wedding in an attempt to determine which one is her father, unbeknownst to her mother. ABBAs music perfectly scores the madcap and hilarious story of love and acceptance. As Sophie, the main character, comes to understand herself and the nature of love, the audience is taken on an emotional ride with beautiful Italy as the backdrop.
