About Louisville Bats
The Louisville Bats are a professional baseball team that plays out of Louisville, KY. The team is a minor league organization that sends players up and down throughout the Cincinnati Reds organization. This team is a Triple-A level organization, meaning that they are one step below the major leagues. Over the years, the team has gone by several names and has been affiliated with various major league rosters. The Louisville Bats are a member of the International League, which they have played in since 1998. A History of the Louisville Bats
The Louisville Bats used to be affiliated with the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1982, the Triple-A affiliate of the Cardinals moved their team to Louisville, KY. At the time, this team was called the Redbirds. They played in a stadium called Cardinal Stadium, which seated more than 30,000 people. This team set the attendance record during their inaugural season. They drew more than 850,000 fans total. In 1998, the league that the Redbirds were playing in at the time, called the American Association, broke apart. Louisville joined a new league called the International League. In 2002, the team changed their name to the Louisville Bats. They have played under this name ever since. According to Forbes, the Bats are one of the most valuable minor league teams in existence.
