Reinventing Themselves and a Genre
The group, started by three brothers, originally gained popularity in the early 1980s for their onda grupera sound. Their 1996 album Inolvidables made them an international success. Throughout the decades they experimented with different styles, but their talents seemed a particular fit with the folk dance music of cumbia. Their 2013 Cómo Te Voy a Olvidar album was a rousing success, followed by a TV show with the Mexico City Symphony Orchestra. These dual accomplishments established the Los Ángeles Azules as the originator of the cumbia sonidera genre. This style updates the traditional genre with 1990s-style electronic music. Their popularity spread throughout Latin America up to the United States. In 2018 they were invited to be the first cumbia band to ever perform at Coachella.
Hot off their success at Coachella and with a new compilation album out in 2018, excitement is high for Los Ángeles Azules concerts. Make sure you have a spot dancing at their show by picking up your cheap Los Ángeles Azules tickets here!
