Born as Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, Doja Cat created the stage name when she was a teenager. Dropping out of high school to pursue music and other dreams, Doja Cat worked hard to gain recognition for her singing and rapping. Doja Cat grew up near Los Angeles where she started singing, dancing and even skateboarding through Malibu. She released her debut EP Purrr! in 2014 after signing a minor record deal. It was not until her studio album Amala was released in 2018 that she was able to get recognition. Doja Cat collaborated with Tyga, XXXTentacion the following year and then released her first major hit, Say So.

Planet Her and Tour with The Weeknd

After success in 2020, Doja Cat released Planet Her. The album quickly had many number one singles and were being demanded to play on radio stations. She had songs with The Weeknd, Saweetie, SZA and more top artists. She performed at the iHeart Jingle Ball Tour in 2021, claiming her one of the top artists that year.
