A Mesmerizing Rise to the Championship

Born in Dublin, Conor McGregor started boxing and kickboxing as a child, but it was an encounter with UFC fighter Tom Egan that sparked his interest in mixed martial arts. Despite Floyd Mayweather Jr. retiring from professional boxing in 2015, he came out of retirement for one more boxing match. This time though, he was fighting someone who had not competed in professional boxing but instead competed in professional MMA. On August 26, 2017 the two faced off in the boxing ring. The boxing match lasted for 10 rounds ending with Mayweather winning with a TKO. Winning the fight brought Mayweather’s professional boxing record to 50-0, finishing his boxing career undefeated. Conor faced off against the lightweight champion and titleholder Khabib Nurmagomedov. Khabib was undefeated in UFC with a record of 26-0 when the two fought.
