Chevy Woods is an American rapper from the East Coast. Born Kevin Woods in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on May 13, 1981, Woods came to popularity on the rap music scene in 2005. Chevy Woods is part of the Taylor Gang. The Taylor Gang is an American entertainment company that operates as an independent record label, music management, music production, and film company. It was founded by rapper Wiz Khalifa. Woods first gained fame by collaborating with Wiz Khalifa. Woods’ first major appearance was on Wiz Khalifa's song “Taylor Gang”. Woods’ biggest hits include “Gangland”, “The Cookout”, and “Red Cup Music”. He has been on over 20 tours and has released several mixtapes including The Cookout&anbsp;with Wiz Khalifa.
Early Life and Career
Woods began rapping as a child, but his passion grew after he graduated from high school, when he began writing and rapping under the name Kev Tha Hustla. He met Wiz Khalifa in 2004, and the two formed a partnership that led to Khalifa forming the Taylor Gang in 2008. Woods released his first mixtape, The Corner’s Correspondent, in 2008, and his next in 2009, called Animal. Both of these mixtapes featured collaborations with Wiz Khalifa, Boaz, and members of Heavy Hustle Records. In 2011, Wiz Khalifa released the mixtape Cabin Fever; the mixtape featured Woods on three tracks. During that same year, Woods released the mixtape, Red Cup Music, which was produced by ID Labs and Mac Miller. In 2012, Woods released a mixtape called Gangland; it featured darker material than Woods’ earlier mixtapes. Woods says it was influenced by his early life on the streets. In 2016, Woods released a four-track EP called And the Story Goes. He released the mixtape 81 in 2018, which also featured Wiz Khalifa, and the mixtape Lewis Park Legend in 2018. In 2019, he released a new mixtape, called New 90s. All of Woods’ mixtapes and EPs have met with critical acclaim.
