After nearly a decade of performing punk and alt rock, Scotty Morris was ready for something different. Along with Kurt Sodergren, Morris created Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, a swing revival band that got its name from an encounter Morris had with blues guitar icon Albert Collins. Their 1940s and 1950s sound caught national attention in 1996 when they were featured on the Swingers soundtrack. Singles like "Go Daddy-O" and "You & Me & the Bottle Makes 3 Tonight (Baby)" were their vehicle to commercial success. In addition to releasing hit records, they performed at the 1999 Super Bowl half-time show and the ESPN ESPY Awards. Throughout the years, as the band has continued to release hit albums and tour the nation, they've become modern musical legends for their role jump-starting renewed interest in jump blues.
