August Burns Red got its start in 2003 when the members were still students in high school, working the local Lancaster scene. They released their first EP the following year with CI Records. In 2005 they switched over to Solid State Records, touring rigorously before breaking through with their sophomore album, Messengers. They became favorites at festivals like Vans Warped Tour, Dubai Desert Rock Festival, and No Sleep Til Festival. They continued to prolifically release albums, their popularity snowballing. Their fifth album, Rescue & Restore, was a genre-pushing project that showcased the depths of the band's talent. August Burns Red's lyrics are evocative and universal, stretching from tragedy and loss to hope and inspiration. Their music is heavily influenced by their Christian faith. In 2015 they were nominated for their first Grammy Award for "Identity" off their sixth studio album, Found in Far Away Places.
