An icon of a generation
Growing up in New York City, Art Garfunkel developed a passion for singing at an early age. He and Paul Simon became friends during a school production of Alice in Wonderland. Simon and Garfunkel issued their first album, Wednesday Morning, 3 A.M., in 1964, but the lack of success caused them to part ways. However "The Sound of Silence," one of the duo's most acclaimed songs, got second life on the radio. The duo reunited, launching one of the most successful folk partnerships of all time. However the two decided to pursue solo careers, ending Simon & Garfunkel in 1970. Garfunkel waited three years before releasing Angel Clare. Garfunkel struggled personally and professionally over the next several years, and in 1984 he decided to take a break from the industry. In 1988 he returned to music with the album Lefty. Since then he has released several more albums and continues to occasionally reunite with Simon both in the studio and on tour.
It's a rare treat to attend an Art Garfunkel concert, as the famed musician has suffered vocal problems in the past. Make sure you seize the chance to see him live by picking up your cheap Art Garfunkel tickets while you still can!
