A constantly evolving genius
Born in Chicago, Andrew Bird grew up learning to play the violin, immersed in the Suzuki method. He started performing with the Squirrel Nut Zippers before founding his own band, Bowl of Fire. In 1996 Andrew Bird and Bowl of Fire released Music of Hair, starting him on the path of stardom. His quirky blend of swing, jazz, rock, and folk makes him a refreshing voice on the indie rock scene. His albums are driven by well-crafted concepts, and Andrew Bird is the mastermind. Songs like "Left Handed Kiss," "Roma Fade," and "Pulaski at Night" have established Andrew Bird's legacy as an indie rock icon. He released his debut solo album in 2003, making use of looping techniques to produce a full, rich sound. 2016 saw the release of Andrew Bird's tenth album, Are You Serious, with collaborations from Fiona Apple and Blake Mills.
