"The Oakeley Arms Hotel is a fabulous place to stay. It is located very well as a base to many different places within easy driving distance. As a solo traveller I was expecting a fairly small cramped room with a single bed. I was pleasantly surprised with a lovely spacious room and en suite. Despite being the first room up the stairs from the bar, it was very quiet and I wasn’t disturbed by any loud music or voices from the bar. It was very comfortable and clean. The decor is exactly right for a property of this period and as such has a faded, well-worn charm. The breakfasts are excellent with a lot of choices and a good size to keep you going all day. The evening meals are very, very good. The menu is extensive and has some very lovely restaurant quality meals as well as excellent pub fare. The Farmers Lamb is to be highly recommended, and the BBQ Cajun chicken and bacon melt is fantastic. It is very refreshing in these difficult times, to see a thriving pub. They do not take reservations, as the place was full all evening, every evening. To be amongst happy, lively visitors and locals creates a great atmosphere. The staff without exception are friendly and welcoming. They are obviously looked after by good employers as they are happy in their work and want to socialise here when they are not on shift. The absolute highlight was the local men singing Welsh songs together on a Friday evening. There is nothing I could find that wasn’t great. Thank you :o)"
