We love our stay at The Yorkville Royal Sonesta for Valentine’s weekend. The hotel is so beautiful and clean, the rooms are spacious and modern, the pool and gym are small but do the job, and the location is perfect- right across the street from the ROM and all the shops of Yorkville. We will be booking our next stay in Toronto there again!

Cons- 1) there was a ticking sound coming from the bedside panel which could be a fire hazard. Loud enough to ruin your sleep. We switched rooms the next day and were told we would get an upgrade for switch mid duration. The new room was smaller. 2) Wifi was adequate. YouTube kept lagging and wifi kept disconnecting on my laptop. There is no smart feature on the Tv so only basic channels are available. 3) Toilet paper is single ply and the bedsheets are harsh on your skin. Woke up with burn/skid marks on elbow. Pro- 1) It was my birthday so I received complimentary birthday dessert from the chef sent to our room. This was a very sweet gesture. 2) Our delivery driver didn’t include cutlery and the concierge prvided us with cutlery at the reception desk which was thoughtful.

check in staff was quite junior. I understand my ID's last name did not match my reservation (due to a recent divorce) but offered to show her my confirmation email and credit card (that matched my last name). She had to go back of house and ask someone. Several minutes passed and sure enough, I had to present her the email (which I was fine) but I had to hold out my arm while she zoomed (which I told her she could take my phone). Then she just gave me my keys, did not smile, offer water nor point us to where the elevators were..which is standard. She needs extreme training or this is not what she should be doing as she seemed scared/nervous throughout the entire process.
