The listing said the home had AC, but when I arrived the house was 85F, there was no central air unit and no window units. I contacted the “host,” and a call center representative kept telling me to wait for the house to cool down, even after I explained there was no AC installed. They said maintenance would come, but no one showed up (for a non existing AC?). Four hours later i contacted "the host" again (aka the call center in a far away land) and they said again that I should wait for the house to cool down. He was polite but he was clearly reading from a script. I left the house as it was too hot to stay there and got a hotel, VRBO and the host gave me my money back but it took me hours of complaining and I had to send pictures, and a back and forth between host and VRBO on a weekend that was supposed to be a relaxing weekend. I wasted hours of my time and I was just frustrated instead of vacationing. For this property, and others managed this way, I recommend confirming key amenities before arrival by asking for proof if needed. I would be very weary of middle people, I think its better to find out of the host is the owner of the property or is at least local to the property and has accurate info. Otherwise, you may end up dealing with VRBO, the host, photos, evidence, refund requests, and finding another place to stay when you should be having a good time. That all said it was a nice house.
