Nestled in southwestern Colorado, Telluride is a town known for its picturesque beauty and historic charm. Bus, rail service and a major highway provide transportation service to and from Telluride. The community is also served by Telluride Regional Airport (TEX), which operates a limited flight service, and Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ), with a larger schedule. Montrose is a neighboring community, about 70 miles north of Telluride. In addition, the community is served by a basic bus line. Telluride itself is connected to the nearby town of Mountain Village via a gondola. The majority of visitors stay on Telluride's Main Street or city center area.
A mountain community, Telluride enjoys moderate summertime temperatures with average highs in the 70s and low-80s. Wintertime temperatures generally hover in the 30s and 40s on most days, dropping about 20 degrees lower at night. Telluride is home to the iconic annual Telluride Film Festival, which attracts major Hollywood luminaries. The annual Telluride Blues Festival is also garnering national and even international acclaim in recent years.
