This house was amazing! Spacious, attention to detail, and lovely hosts. I would recommend this rental home for a perfect getaway in Harrisonburg. Some close high school friends and I celebrated a 50th birthday, and we could not ask for anything more from a property and hosts!!!

We have stayed in quite a few VRBO’s. Most descriptions of properties and pictures have been accurate with a couple outliers. This property exceeded the expectations of the pictures and description. It is an exceptional property, especially if you appreciate detail and craftsmanship. We will definitely stay again. Highly recommend. Not AI assisted.

Elvin and Sandra are a wonderful couple, very hospitable; their home is beautiful and super clean. We arrived to fresh cut flowers in various rooms, a bowl of fruit and fresh baked cookies in the kitchen, which made us feel right at home! The house was the perfect place to stay for a family getaway after a three day pastor's conference in Philadelphia. It is a place of peace to quietly rest before the Lord, and it was by far, the best home my family has stayed in on a vacation. It rained the entire time we visited, so we mostly stayed in the house -- which was no problem at all. I frankly cannot say enough about how amazing our stay was. We felt very much at home in this wonderful vintage 132 year old character filled home. Thankful for Elvin and Sandra!

Fantastic hosts and an absolutely breathtaking home! Elvin and Sandra were so welcoming, responsive, and helpful! We were pleased to find fresh cookies and a gorgeous flower arrangement. This home is quiet and remote, yet close to many activities in and around Harrisonburg. We enjoyed the Shenandoah Heritage Market/Antique Barn, Rolling Hills Antiques, and Ruby’s Arcade for duckpin bowling. I hope we can return to this home, as you can tell the owners put so much hard work and care into its renovation. Highly recommend!

Absolutely stunning house. When we arrived there was fresh flowers in most of the rooms as well as complimentary snickerdoodles. The owners thought about absolutely everything including Epsom salts for the clawfoot bathtub or makeup wipes and toothbrushes that one might forget when traveling. Highly recommend this historic home.

Fredfest Music Festival Weekend

The historic Funk home is a true gem. I love classic Victorian homes and the renovation work done to this home and the tasteful decor and cleanliness provided an impressive welcome for our stay. We were attending my brother's music festival; Fredfest, didn't get to spend much time at the house, but will try to schedule for next year to fully appreciate what the home has to offer.

Our family’s most favorite stay ever

Elvin and Sandra’s beautiful 1894 home gave us the most relaxing and unique stay our family has ever had. We all wanted to pick up that treasure and take it with us! So spacious and beautiful! The house was hands down the cleanest we’ve ever stayed in. Their daughter has done an incredible job decorating the home in a way that is simple and draws you in, feels relaxing and captures the history and culture of the area. Sandra provided fresh cuttings and flowers throughout the home. This sweet couple provided us a handwritten note and fruit, homemade cookies and waters complimentary. The cookies were some of the best we’d ever had, and the couple were happy to share the recipes with us. There’s a collection of old historical books throughout the home that gave it a neat touch. Each room smelled of freshly wash sheets, and the bathroom was well stocked with conveniences in case visitors forgot something at home- anything from facial wipes to shampoo and conditioner and body wash, to a hair dryer and even a new toothbrush. The kitchen was stocked with good cookware and plenty of spices and staples, things that they don’t have to provide, but it shows that they care and go the extra mile. The stove is magnificent! We enjoyed antiquing and visiting the farmer’s market nearby, as well as some of the local restaurants. We’d planned to do some hiking in the Shenandoah Valley, but inclement weather arriving changed our plans. I cannot recommend these renters and this home enough!
