The young lady checking us in had absolutely no customer service skills. She was so mean and curt the multiple times we interacted with her. The remote in the bedroom was sticky beyond being a remote in a humid beach towel. Our bath tub had the incorrect plug so we couldn’t plug the tub to give our son a bath. The bath towels are the size of a toddler towel. We paid extra for a balcony that seemingly looked great on the website and looked directly into the side of the building with nothing else. The entire hotel (staircases, elevator, main walk ways) were all filthy. Covered with cob webs and garbage or the flooring pulling up that no one has bothered to sweep up. The pictures, even of the old rooms, are very deceiving. Definitely would not stay again here for what we ended up paying for 2 nights.

We slept with ants in our bed and many dead on the floor around the room. We called the front desk and was told we needed to check back in the morning. We also had a rash of ants the next morning all over our car and in the engine compartment we asked the lobby if they had any spray that we could use. I stayed up all night killing ants wondering in my sheets . I also decided since I could Not sleep I would look up some of the reviews and guess what ? This has actually happened to others too 😳 I can say I was at leased pleased with the assistance manger for asking us several time he was surprised that we were not offered a new room when we first called in. I was a little disappointed that once we changed rooms that all they did is cleaned up the room and gave it to someone else immediately with hours .

Older property in a walkable area. Our room was a bit on the dirty side (heavily stained chairs, rusty lamps, and overhead lighting not working). The staff were very helpful and friendly. The daily breakfast included choices of waffles (made by staff), frozen breakfast sandwiches, cereal, instant oatmeal, fruit, prepackaged treats, and coffee. Parking filled up rather quickly during our stay.

The hotel is cute on the outside but it’s not like the pictures. Check in was at 4 and we didn’t get our room until 4:20. The girl thought she was doing us a favor by waiving our deposit because we had to wait for our room. We got an old room that was humid and musty. The carpet felt gross to walk on. The sink when you turned on the water smelled like rotten egg. Good thing we only stayed there one night. The free breakfast was the only good thing about the hotel. But like another person said “we were catfished” with the pictures of renovated rooms. They should post more of the non renovated rooms and also state that when you book that your booking either a renovated room or old room.

I normally don't write reviews especially bad ones. I have no problem paying over $300 a night. However, the room smelled really bad and it needed a deep cleaning. This was more like $99 a night situation. The website advertised complementary breakfast, but I didn't see anything but it didn't matter because I left as soon as it was daylight outside.

Tried to check in with a reservation and the woman asked the front desk wearing sunglasses said “we have no rooms”. Told her we had a reservation and she repeated herself. Finally got out of her the room was not ready. Bad location, bad service.

I think there’s an updated portion of this hotel that’s nicer—I unfortunately did not get a room in that part of the building. Hairs in the shower, damp carpet, and very thin walls. The Best Western down the road in Dana Point is nicer for roughly the same price.

This is my go to hotel when staying in San Clemente, easy access from Caltrans station, walking distance to the beach, hiking trails, restaurants, outlets, and nearby free trolley stops to go to the pier, Dana Point, and other points of interest. The staff are also so friendly and nice. Erin, Anthony, and Derrick were so amazing and helpful during my most recent stay.

Ants in the room including the bed. Same for an alternate room. Although no fire, the fire alarm went off which shut down the elevators. We are handicapped and on the second floor. Had to call the paramedics to help us down the stairs. Limited staff, generally filthy. They stated they would credit our card. So far no credit to the card.
