The name listed "new Reno-Sparks Convention Center." What a crock. This place was probably built in the late 1960s or 1970s. It's been renovated but the workmanship is sub-par.
1. While faux hardwood floors have replaced the carpeting that was probably laid down originally, the countertop for the sink looks like something from the 1960s... old, damaged and disgusting to look at.
2. The door and door frame to my room have drill holes in them -- poorly patched and not repainted.
3. The heater in my room is old and makes a low-grumbling rumble sound that's annoying.
4. When I came up the stairs to my section of the hotel (rooms in the 500 range), I noticed some tubing for the electrical system that extend out over the steps. That represents a tripping hazard for guests -- that's a lawsuit waiting to happen and should never have been installed like that.
The nice young guy that checked me is a Sikh. I suspect that his family probably owns the place. If that's true, I suspect that they are all from India and like other Indians i've worked with, they do things to the standards of India -- not the United States. That doesn't work here. Americans expect better.
And naming the "new Reno-Sparks Convention Center" is so misleading it also opens the ownership up to a lawsuit for false advertising.
It's not a terrible place, but I would NOT stay at this hotel again nor would I recommend it.
