Overall the property is well kept, very clean. Room was good except that we had a very bad experience due to no running water for almost a full 24 hours in a couple of rooms from our group. No one called to notify us of what was happening or keep us updated. We had to keep calling to find out what was going on and even then we didn't get much information. Not enough dining options. We also had an issue with getting a table for all of us at the restaurants. It seemed like a huge inconvenience to get a table for the group. We did have a larger group of 14 so I kind of understand for the sit down restaurants but at the buffet? All other places i've ever been to are more than happy to put some tables together at the buffet. Not here. The rest of the service was hit or miss for the most part. Some people went above and beyond while others were downright rude. The exception would be the activities team. They all did a fabulous job and are the reason I rated a bit higher. Shout out to Kendall who was always friendly and upbeat and kept everyone engaged. Also would like to recognize our poolside waiter; Andres who was awesome!

Ocean Maya is excellent value...food is excellent and varied, drinks are consistent and decent name brands are available in all the various liquor types, staff are professional and friendly, loungers are comparatively easy to obtain and the beach was very acceptable.

The staff was extremely friendly and helpful; however, this was the most disappointing vacation I have ever had. The food was very disappointing. My stomach hurt most of the time, and there was very little seafood available. Compared to other five-star resorts I have stayed at, the quality of the food was significantly lower, with barely any seafood options. At one restaurant, I was served farm-raised salmon topped with hot jalapeño peppers, which burned my mouth. I only took one bite, as the fish was tasteless to me. The ocean experience was also very distressing. The water was full of jellyfish. On my third day, I ran out of the ocean after several people began screaming because they were being stung. While trying to get out of the water, I fell and injured my knee, which prevented me from swimming for two days. I was also stung several times, and a friend who was with me was stung three times simultaneously. After that, she refused to go back into the ocean. This significantly impacted our vacation. The massage I received at the spa was the worst massage I have ever had. It was extremely painful and stressful. The massage therapist applied excessive pressure and dug deeply into my skin. I regret not getting up and leaving the session. Additionally, the property needs updating, especially near the main area in front of the Hacienda restaurant. For a five-star resort, that area looked somewhat run-down.

We stayed 8 nights in room 1804. It was a standard room but nice, large, and spotless every day! Our mini fridge was restocked with beer, pop, and plenty of water every day - never had to ask. The food was great! No complaints whatsoever! We especially enjoyed the Japanese a la carte. The entertainment staff was simply amazing. They were all such high energy, witty and so much fun! All staff were quite pleasant and helpful. The pools were great, the beach was nice and had white powdery sand. Overall we very much enjoyed this vacation and would return!

This is most definitely not a 5 star resort. The beach and jungle were very pretty. We loved the coatimundi running around everywhere. The resort itself is old and outdated. It looks like it might have been a 5 star resort in the 1990s. Food was super inconsistent. The buffet options were horrible. If you want any sort of protein, prepare to wait in a 20 min line to get a small piece of chicken or a burger. They had fresh fruit and salad out all the time, so if you are vegetarian you will be fine. Meat eaters will struggle. The other restaurants were better. The Mexican and Hibachi were both very good for an all inclusive. Good luck getting reservations though. Restaurants close randomly during the week and even waking up at 7am when the reservations start don’t guarantee you a time slot. We tried 5 days in a row to get the hibachi and only on the 5th day could we get the very last slot. Service was the big problem with this resort. This was hands down the worst service I’ve seen in my 10+ visits to all inclusives. There were some exceptions. The bellman was very nice and drove me around when I left a bag in the lobby and the bartenders at the lobby bar and coffee shop were super friendly and helpful. Almost every other person there worked at the resort seemed to absolutely hate their job though. Some were rude, but most just didn’t seem to care at all. Tipping did not help. Most of the time a tip received no thank you and they continued the poor service. Overall, 3 stars.

The grounds were well kept. The room was large and clean. The food was delicious, and they asked about food allergies at every meal which is really thoughtful. The resort wasn't overcrowded at all so there was always space to eat, and we never had to wait to be seated. Carlos and Hugo were awesome servers! All staff and employees were friendly and helpful. There are a couple pools, access to the beach, and a few other places to relax in the sun. The pool bar did get a little backed up at times but nothing more than a couple minutes wait. The first night we were there and on/off for nearly 24hrs the water didn't work for the entire resort. This was because of the city's water service provider so it was out of the resort's control. We would definitely stay again!

Our stay at Ocean Maya Royale was not what we expected. Overall, the customer service left a lot to be desired. We had to call the main number several times just to receive basic items like water and a steamer. Although they were eventually delivered, it took multiple follow-ups, which was frustrating. Our experience at the Mexican restaurant, El Charro, was especially disappointing. We waited an hour for our food, only to be served cold dishes. The chicken in particular tasted as if it came out of a can. On top of that, getting reservations at the other restaurants was nearly impossible. There was also a day when the water went out for a few hours in the morning and again in the afternoon, which was inconvenient and unexpected for a resort at this level. Despite the issues, I want to give a big shoutout to the staff at La Hacienda: Octavio, Sara, Gabriela, Ramon, and Benito. Their service stood out and truly made a difference during our stay. Additionally, Kevin at checkout was excellent—professional, kind, and efficient. These team members were the highlight of our trip. In summary, while there were some bright spots thanks to a few outstanding staff members, the overall experience fell short of expectations.

We really liked the resort but wont be back likely. We stayed 6 nights and they were having water issues. Apparently it is a cancun issue but we were also told other resorts were fine. They gave us a courtesy one day upgrade and that was fine but it felt like we were inconvenient and the only way we got to be heard was expedia contacting the hotel. We love the place also be aware this hotel is a very european company who caters mostly to Canadian and european clients so it could be a bit different. That being said nothing was wrong or bad except for the water thing.

The room was good, clean. Staff are always amazing, friendly and so helpful. The food is good. The grounds are well taken care of. We booked a massage at the spa and it was very relaxing. This was our 4th time at this resort and we will be back. I want to give a particular shout out to our butler David and to Gabriela at the Privilege desk, our flight was cancelled and moved to the next day and Gabriela helped us get a room for the night and made sure we were taken care of. Thank you!

We had such an amazing stay. The food was delicious and all the staff were so friendly and helpful. I want to give a HUGE shoutout to Kendall…he is incredible at his job and made us feel so special. Our faces still hurt from laughing so much. He really made the trip just perfect. The spa was fantastic, we had massages and facials and the women working there really listened to us, highly recommend Lupe. Eric at Yookoso is hilarious, teppanyaki is a must. El Charro has fantastic Mexican cuisine. We would absolutely rebook!

We ABSOLUTELY loved our 7 days at the Ocean Maya Royale! The property is beautiful! The rooms are spacious and spotlessly clean. What makes this place special, though, is the outstanding Staff! We were greeted by Melisa at the Front Desk, and then had dinner served by Victor with wine service by Luis Toledo. Our first night was outstanding, but it only got better! We can’t say enough about all of the staff, but the standouts are Octavio and Jorge at the Lobby Bar, Angel our server at El Charro, and our food demonstrator Pilar. Erick made my husband’s birthday so special with his Teppanyaki display.The icing on the cake was the Experience Team. Viri has a smile and personality to light up any room and she knows how to make you feel special! Kendall literally learned everyone’s name at the entire resort and went out of his way to make us feel like family. We have done a lot of travelling in Mexico but have never felt as special as Kendall made us feel. We highly recommend coming to this amazing place and we are already planning our next trip.
