Where to even begin about this property. We started our stay for four days and then went to go to Cozumel to dive. Our original plan was to go to Tulum after but we loved the Fairmont experience so much that we decided to come back after three days in Cozumel. In total we were at the Fairmont for ten days and I could of stayed for another month. First and foremost, the property. It is UNREAL, it is perfect for any sort of getaway. Air conditioning was tricky and medicore/stuffy. I couldn't figure out how to turn on the ceiling fan. I couldn't find the switch. Everything was so far away. Always walking and asking for rides, then feeling guilty about tipping (there should be a NO tipping policy). Everyone was expecting tips and handouts. The taxi situation to town was a pain and they showed up late. Nearly messed up my plans. Felt trapped in the hotel and there was nothing easy to eat casually. The beach was nice and service with amenities was great (paddle boards, kayaks, etc). Buffet was mediocre. Kept having to ask for butter - which sounds silly but it wasn't available unless we ask (toast, pancakes, etc). The check in and out process was a pain. They make you sit while they 'find a room and talk and give you a fruit drink'. I just want to check in and get to my room. It souldn't be an 'experience'. The "Resort Fee and Ecological Fee" was silly. Felt like I was getting scammed with added fees. I always felt like I was trapped and every time I left my room I needed to spend money.

Beautiful property. So many pools. Big and small. Huge beach! Lots of chairs. Service was the best I’ve ever experienced and I have travelled a lot. The property is recently renovated and extremely well maintained. Very clean. The food in all the restaurants was amazing. This was one of the best experiences I’ve had!

Disappointing Experience Despite Nice Rooms I stayed at Fairmont Mayakoba Hotel recently and unfortunately, it did not meet my expectations. While the rooms themselves were clean and comfortable, the overall service left much to be desired. Staff weren’t particularly friendly or helpful, and it was often difficult to find assistance when needed. The food was especially disappointing bland and poorly prepared. I even got sick after eating at the resort and had to see a doctor for antibiotics, which was a major inconvenience. Because of the poor food quality, I ended up having to leave the resort daily just to find something edible. Transportation within the resort was also unreliable. Bikes were often unavailable, and the carts that are supposed to take guests around rarely showed up, making it difficult to get around the property. Considering the high price point, I expected a much higher standard of service, hospitality, and convenience. Sadly, I wouldn’t recommend this resort and won’t be returning.

Excellent service and facilities. In-room dining could be faster. Only issue we disliked is the time of wait for jeep from beach to rooms/lobby around 5-6pm. There are no signs or rules and guests do not respect if others have been waiting and cut the line all the time. Need for signs in multiple languages to control better the line.

We checked in at Fairmont Mayakoba on August 2 and were very disappointed with our experience. Our room had a serious issue with ants and mosquitoes, and my daughter was badly bitten. We immediately requested a room change. The staff told us they would try to arrange one by 9 PM that night, but it didn’t happen. They then said they would call us at 9 AM the next morning, so we waited and didn’t unpack. In the end, we were moved to a very basic and small room with a view completely blocked by a tree. We had paid for a resort-view room and expected a higher standard. The hotel clearly had many vacant rooms due to the off-season and hot August weather, yet we were given one of the least desirable options. This has been a very poor customer service experience, and we feel we did not receive the value we paid for. The new room was far below the category and quality we had booked. Food is overpriced and average; best to eat in-room or at the beach. Mosquitoes are overwhelming in August, the resort is far from downtown, no Uber is available, and taxis are expensive. Overall, not worth the price.

Fabulous resort, we were kindly upgraded to a casita and it was stunning - maid service twice a day, in the evening our ice bucket would be filled . Our rooms were clean and spacious with quality fittings and beautiful balconies where we could sit and listen to the sounds of the jungle. The staff, without exception were friendly and helpful. Valet parking easy and efficient, and they would give us water and towels if going out for the day. On return, they would say “ welcome home “! Food delicious, especially the breakfast buffet ( Christina’s omelettes are second to none !) which was extensive and set us up for the day. The beach was gorgeous , pools clean and the areas well maintained and so pretty. We didn’t want to leave.
