We used to stay a lot when the previous owners had it and it was The Barton Hill. It was much better. Breakfast served in the dining room, it had so much character and charm. We loved hearing about its history from the local owners. Now, it has a more higher end motel vibe. Tacky carpets over the once historic floorboards, breakfast served in the lobby (like a motel chain would). The hotel is clean, but mould growing on the baseboards in the bathrooms that are damp and have no fans for air circulation. Not a housekeeping problem, but new owners need to invest correcting these issues. We loved coming to Lewiston at this time of year for is history, charm and locals, but will probably do so without the hotel stay.

I liked the property and location. Room was large and clean but only serviced 3 times in our week stay. We could have used extra towels because of this, and did help ourselves to the maid’s cart. Front desk staff only addressed us once with a hello during our stay and we went in and out a lot. Just found it odd that they weren’t paying more attention to who was going in and out of the hotel. Breakfast was decent with variety but the same choices every day. Great restaurant Griffens across the street. More restaurants, bakeries and shops walking distance from the hotel. We would stay again.

Expensive price for what was offered. Outside and inside is beautiful and well-maintained Staff was friendly and helpful. I appreciate that there is someone physically at the front desk for 24 hours and is there to help. Someone even let me in to the exercise room after hours, and I appreciate that. 1st floor amenities were rather limited: a very small hot-tub (fits maybe 2-3 people max) and a barebones exercise room with a non-working treadmill. Whirlpool suite room was spacious but had large ants coming from the wall in the bathroom. The room layout is also odd with its TV to the side of the bed instead of opposite the bed and outlets only in inconvenient locations (meaning charging your electronics awkwardly in the corner of the room on the ground). The chair in the suite was matted and ripped. The in-unit fireplace was nice, but the AC unit hardly put out anything except for a bright light. Breakfast the next morning was great with a good selection and well-stocked options (except the waffle station near the end of breakfast hours was putting out a watery batter). The experience overall was a decently fine room and experience but for a premium price.

Nice big..clean and modern rooms. .good breakfast...had to change rooms when we got there because they were hosting a wedding...our room was on the same floor so it was pretty loud.. new room further away and better....would avoid that night if we knew...Lewiston is really nice..with plenty of restaurants and shops to help pass the time

Breakfast was good with lots of options. Bacon sausage eggs. Bagels waffles fruits and yogurts. Room needed work. Loose and cracked tiles in the bathroom. Needs a refresh. Bed was very comfortable. The bed was comfortable, neighborhood was quiet/safe, we appreciate the accommodation for our pups, and staff were very friendly/helpful. Property is a little dated which has an effect on the general cleanliness, but it’s due more to age than anything. Within a .5 mile there are several local restaurants & coffee shops. If you want to be near the Falls but don’t want to deal with the chaos of the touristy area, I recommend staying here.

The location is perfect — right by the water with a nice pub and microbrewery just across the parking lot. You really couldn’t ask for a better spot. We stayed here while going to a Buffalo Bills game, and the price was reasonable as well as the distance from the stadium. That said, the hotel is in dire need of maintenance. The front door, which should be dark green, is so scratched that you can see the white underneath. The same goes for the bathroom — it looks aged and worn and could really use some refurbishing. Another small downside is that breakfast only starts at 7 a.m., while most hotels start at 6. Since we had to leave early, we just grabbed a banana bread from the reception instead. Overall, if this hotel were properly maintained and refreshed, it would easily be a five-star stay.
