The staff was wonderful. Very nice. It was my first time in New York and was nervous about staying in a boutique hotel. The breakfast was great, the location was fabulous ,and the whole place was very clean. Quick to get to the subway and broadway show that we were seeing. The restaurant across the street was also delicious! The ONLY thing that I had a complaint about is the bed. It was very hard. It wasn’t unbearable and we by the end of the day it suited its purpose but when I come back to stay I would ask for a different room.

Not happy that our reservation for a king size bed/bedroom was downgraded to a room with two double beds… The staff said “not to worry – they are two queen beds!” This was also not true. And all morning starting at 5 am there was a nonstop beeping which sounded like an alarm clock, however, it seemed to be coming from the lobby at one of their electrical or fire panels

Good central location. Good value for an NYC hotel - small rooms are to be expected! Bathrooms/shower was clean and nicely upgraded. Friendly, helpful staff. The breakfast was coffee and local pastries/baked goods which was better IMO than a big hotel chain continental breakfast.

Moderne is a boutique hotel located a block from Broadway and in the heart of the theatre district. It's also located very close to Central Park. It's a fantastic location. The staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. My room was on the first floor just behind the lobby and it was very comfortable and quiet. It's on the smaller side -- but you don't go to NYC to be in the room. I will definitely stay there again.

Beautiful old building in a great location, nice amenities and friendly staff. But the standard room was smaller than expected [less than 200sq ft]. Next time, I would opt for the Jr Suite.
