It seemed haunted and abandoned. Great location, excellent parking. But no staff present during the entirety of my stay. Hot water was tepid water. The building is so old, the floors slope and the stairs have a weird pitch; it wouldn't be safe for an older person with balance or mobility issues.

The 2nd floor manager was very pleasant, room was safe and quiet bc of the thick walls, bar downstairs was nice, easy to park, free coffee and water, in center of town. Would stay here again!

Location in central Newtown was terrific. The main floor restaurant was shut down. No elevators to third floor so 42 steps to the third floor and no bell staff so dragging all your bags up was not a good start. No hot water in the shower. Got moved to second floor was an improvement. Historic hotel (opened during Civil War) was alluring but couldn’t recommend it.

Parking was fine...but there is no bar. It was associated with a restaurant which is now closed. So no bar, no food, and the TV screen was just a tiny computer monitor. If all you want is a bed and a shower, I guess it's fine.

When the Gps said we arrived I had to call the hotel because it didn’t look the picture on the app. The hotel looked like it was in disarray and under construction. When we walked inside there was a stale smell like the building did not have enough air flow. However the person who picked up the phone was very nice. When we went upstairs to the room the floors are really old and uneven so be careful. The room was nice but the door did not have a threshold so anyone staying could hear everything. We placed a large blanket under the door. However the bed was comfortable. There is also a restaurant on the first floor but it was closed and under construction but the owner placed information for breakfast spots. Overall, it was ok for a one night stay.
