We had a lovely stay in a very enjoyable room. The staff at the Auberge was lovely throughout. The location (although a bit touristy on the weekend) is perfect, and the unit had everything we needed. The reason for my 4- (let's call it a 4.5-) star review versus a solid 5 is simply do to a set of understandable factors one should consider before booking: - The unit we had was noisy with loud music at night from below and early morning stomping from the unit above. These are old buildings and that, while a bit annoying, is the nature of an old building. Charm won out. - Hot water was difficult to maintain at a solid temp in the shower. Again...old building. - Be prepared to carry your bags (or get front desk help) up the stairs as there is no elevator, or at least there wasn't in our building. Again...old building. All in all, we had a lovely stay in a unique property for a good price. We will definitely book again even knowing what we know to be "part of the deal" #oldbuilding

Was notified of no elevator, but it was 60 stair steps up. When we asked for a bellman to help us with our bags on the way up, that was fine. On the way down nobody showed. A local helped us get our bags down. Lots of creaky floor and thin walls where we could hear noise from two different adjoining rooms. Smoke alarm less than 10 inches from the heat vent set off the alarm which maintenance had to disconnect during our stay.

We ebhoyed the location in the heart of Old Montreal, with shopping and dinning galore. All staff were phenomenally welcoming, professional, and helpful. While our loft was absolutely charming with an incredibly comfy bed, we didn't have hot water the entire weekend and our room often reeked of cigarette smoke. Our loft was also in a seperate building from the main hotel location - short walking distance and great valet service - but nestled right next to a bustling restaurant, which was similar to staying next to a waterfall both Friday and Saturday night.

Each of the lofts are priced the same, regardless of size. I was in a small loft - it had a small bathroom (with only a walk-in shower) and a half-sized kitchenette (2-burner stovetop and half-sized fridge). My sister was randomly in one of the large corner-unit lofts - it had a large bathroom with both a walk-in shower and large soaking tub, and a full-sized kitchenette (4-burner stovetop and full-sized fridge). When I asked why I was being charged the same price for 2 very different units, I was told that all of the lofts are priced the same, and they refused to discount the smaller room. BEWARE!!! If you want to get your money's worth, call ahead of your arrival and request one of the larger corner lofts (with the bathtub!). There are only 3 of them! Otherwise, you're getting scammed out of your money.
