The property was in a great location for walking to many of the major locations I wanted to see. Within 20 to gion and most everything is 10-15 minutes away including the philosophers path and the subway station. The staff where nice and helped us carry our luggage and were overall very helpful. Situated in a very quiet part of the city but not too far from the central area full of shops, restaurants and interesting sites. The rooms are in typical Japanese style, sliding doors, futon and a low coffeetable with pillows to sit on instead of chairs. All in all a great real experience.

I don't think there is a better location in Kyoto to stay. You are away from the busier spots in Kyoto and the mountains are just a walk away. Getting up in the mornings and getting to explore right outside the hotel was very exciting. Great staff and quiet, clean rooms. Would highly recommend!

Slightly old fashioned but spacious, clean and comfortable room. Lovely location in the east of the city near to beautiful canal and close to subway.
