Overnight stay in Buyukada

As part of a longer trip, my wife and I stayed at the Splendid to check out Buyukada. The hotel has great character and excellent interiors, with amazing furnishings. The staff were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back and for longer the next time we visit Buyukada.

If you were looking for a delightful place to spend a weekend outside of Istanbul, this is definitely the place. The staff and management are excellent, the cocktails and the food are on point. Everything is scrupulously, clean and well ordered to be aware though, that in order to keep the charm of this old school building, there is no air-conditioning. If you can open your windows to catch the air from the sea, you should be fine at night even during the summer. Otherwise, there’s just these very old school fans and that’s about it. The bathrooms are basic, but the rooms are lovely. You don’t wanna miss this place at all.

Overnight birthday celebration.

Ours was an overnight stay for a birthday celebration. The staff were friendly, the room was spacious, and the hotel is well preserved for a historic building. The art deco salon with original furniture and stylish cocktail bar is a great place to spend time in and drink a classic cocktail. During my birthday breakfast, the waiting staff provided a surprise cake, and we were also given a fruit platter on arrival and a late checkout before departing. A memorable stay in a charming hotel.

The hotel's ambience is enchanting, with decor that beautifully combines historical charm and modern luxury. The breakfast spread was extraordinary, featuring freshly baked pastries, artisan breads, fine cheeses and delicious deserts all presented with impeccable attention to detail. Walking through the hotel felt like a journey through time, with Island's historical artifacts and elegant furnishings creating a unique and inviting atmosphere. The staff's warm hospitality and commitment to exceptional service made my stay even more enjoyable. The Splendid Palace Hotel is a perfect blend of luxury and tradition. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning.

Generally pretty expensive for the area, the photos make it seem pretty good, but it was really no where near worth the $175 a night I paid. No AC, broken electrical outlets, non-working mini fridge (that claimed was working - just slightly below room temp was considered working to them). Its an old attractive building with a nice swimming pool and good breakfast. But that's about it.

The hotel is very pretty, the swimming pool wonderful but I went to rest and on the night of Saturday it was disco music, very very strong, at the entrance bar and restaurant, so Icould not sleep. The music was on until 1.30 am and you listening to it like you were in the middle of a disco bar. It is an old hotel, rooms are small, expensive, and our rooms were the worst
