Room was spotless, staff communicated very well with us, hotel itself is gorgeous. Upgraded to a 9th floor room with massage chair for a reasonable price and it was worth it. The buffet was okay. Private baths available to rent on sight along with every room having its only single private open air bath. Will be back!

Beautiful hotel with a grand porch. 2 big doors lead to the lobby. Lobby is spacious and rest of hotel is small. Only one dining restaurant that served breakfast & kaiseki/buffet dinner. Guests who have chosen shabu shabu dinner will have to take hotel shuttle bus to another building. There are some free japanese tea & ice cream available all day long for guests. Can also enjoy free performances at night at the lobby.

This is an expensive hotel, and it is the food that makes it more expensive. With minimal options nearby, you are kind of destined to book the food options. We did not find the food options up to the standard of which we had paid. Some food was cold when it should be hot and food choices felt limited in some areas. This is buffet style dining. The free ice creams was brilliant though. And the onsen is the best onsen we have visited in Japan. the room was spacious and comfortable. We had a room with a private onsen, which to be honest is not necessary, because the main onsen is so amazing. The gardens are beautiful and the staff relly helpful, if maybe sometimes a little overbearing.

Would have expected a lot more for the price of this hotel. The rooms were nice and the onsen was great but the food was mediocre at best. They were very strict with reservations trying to force us to eat dinner at 5:15 pm each night. My partner also had the worst massage of his life. I would suggest that there are better options in the area that are more worth it.
