Got a nice view of the mountains from my room. Buffet food was pretty good. All the public baths, including the ones at the neighbouring Mori no Yu, were very good! Would recommend coming if you want to enjoy onsen and disconnect from the busy city.

Hakone TEN-YU is an excellent property for someone visiting Japan and wanting to be fully immersed into Japanese culture and tradition. I have been to Japan and Hakone many times and I find this hotel to be a great way to experience Japanese hospitality and to really experience the Onsen tradition of Japan. You will not find many Onsen like the 2 public Onsens at TEN-YU which alternate daily from Men to Women. Also, the buffet breakfast and dinners give you the feeling of traditional Japanese food with enough variety to satisfy an American palate. You must try some of the Japanese traditional food however, if you want to truly experience the Japanese culture. The rooms are clean and spacious and you can relax and wear your yukatas and slippers provided throughout the facility. There is also an attached onsen theme park called Yunessun which you can use for free and which may be great for kids and families who want to get a taste of the onsen experience (with bathing suits) but it is really best for its traditional fully naked onsen experience. Many rooms also have a private bathing tub on the balcony which can be used privately and can be filled with hot spring water as well for those who want a more private but less immersing onsen experience. Also, there is free ice cream from a vending machine in the lobby.

Beautiful gardens and onsens. Reserve a room with a private Onsen soaking tub on your balcony, it’s wonderful. Staff were incredible. Room available for early check in at 1pm. VIP Expedia amenity was executive lounge invitation from 4-10pm with beverage bar, antipasto, snacks, desserts. Onsen floors alternate daily for men/women. Be sure to see both views which are beautiful! Great skin care products.

We absolutely loved our stay!! The room was beautiful, the onsens are incredible, the buffet breakfast was delicious and the service was fantastic! We stayed 2 nights, which I highly recommend to experience the hotel and Hakone properly. The only thing we didn’t love was the Kaiseki dinner - the food quality didn’t seem to be quite up to standard compared to everything else we ate at the hotel and seafood was already on the table when we arrived (it was even sitting out already for the next seating in 2 hours), which was a little off putting.
