The Building:
Palazzo Lanfredini’s Legacy. Lungarno Guicciardini is steeped in history and Renaissance charm. The building, also home to the British Institute since 1917, was designed by Baccio D’Agnolo and restored with care by Ilaria Sassolini and Lorenzo Capogrosso using traditional Florentine techniques and materials.
Built in 1501 and once owned by the noble Lanfredini and Guicciardini families, the palazzo features Renaissance architecture and Roman influences. It has served as a private residence, hotel, and now houses the British Institute's renowned library.
The British Institute of Florence:
Established in 1917, the Institute offers English-language resources, cultural events, and a celebrated Thursday afternoon tea at the Harold Acton Library – a favorite among international visitors.

Parking in Florence:
Florence’s historical centre is a Restricted Traffic Zone so if you are planning to arrive by car please let us know in advance so that we can recommend a parking area that is only a 5 minute walk from the apartment.
General note about Florence:
Florence in recent years has seen a significant increase in second-home owners and foreign buyers purchasing apartments to list as rental properties. Many of these apartments are also in very poor condition—often dating back to the 1970s and 1980s—and these older styles are generally not suitable for modern short-term rentals without significant renovation. This ultimately means that renovations and construction work are ongoing throughout the city and owners carrying out said works are under no obligation to inform other residents in the building, nor to provide details on the duration of the works or when the noisiest phases will occur. Florence city council allows construction and building work to take place Monday-Sunday, 8am to 8pm. It is an ongoing challenge when construction work takes place in a building where we own a luxury apartment and we apologise in advance if this happens during your stay. We will continue to strive to do our utmost to assist our clients if renovation construction work is taking place in the building where you are staying but unfortunately we cannot promise to know about said work prior to your arrival for the reasons stated above. Thank you for your understanding.
