The Philippines is a diverse country with over seven thousand islands. Visitors can choose to experience the bustling city life of Metro Manila, or visit the sandy beaches of Batangas. Each region of the country has different cultural influences, providing visitors with unique cuisine and experiences at every stop.

Getting Around

When you fly to the Philippines, you will arrive at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (MNL). This airport is used as a connection hub to various parts of the country. Beyond lies Manila, the capital of the Philippines. The urban jungle houses historic cathedrals, museums and skyscrapers. If you get a car rental at the airport, you can travel throughout the city on the Strong Republic Nautical Highway System.

To experience a more natural surroundings, you'll have to take a flight or ferry to another region. Bacolod, the capital of Negros Occidental, contains historic squares, scenic mountains, and a number of sulphur springs. The best way to get around Bacolod is with a car rental and GPS. International driving licenses are valid for up to 30 days after your arrival.

Hints and Tips

Due to the country's history, there are over 100 different dialects spoken in the Philippines, with Tagalog being the most common. However, visitors shouldn't have a problem communicating with locals as English is one of the official languages and is taught in schools throughout the country.
