Bailey's Cottages (#5) - Quiet cabin on the lake
Relax with the whole family at this peaceful place to stay.
What is a "Housekeeping" Cottage?
If this is your first time staying in a housekeeping cottage—welcome! Unlike a traditional hotel, a housekeeping cottage is a self-catering experience. This means that while we provide the beautiful space and the tools you need, guests are responsible for keeping the cottage tidy during their stay and leaving it "broom clean" upon departure. This tradition helps us keep our rates affordable and maintains that authentic "cottage" feeling for everyone.
At Bailey’s, we embrace the simple life! Our cottages offer a true, unplugged getaway with just the right touch of convenience:
Cabin Comforts: The cabin is equipped with a fridge and microwave for your food prep, and a furnace to keep you perfectly warm during those cool summer nights. To keep things authentic and true to the outdoors, there is no air conditioning—the lake breeze does the work!
Power & Electricity: Your cabin is equipped with just enough electricity so you can keep your devices charged and enjoy cozy lighting in the evenings.Packer's Tip: To preserve the rustic character of the space, there are exactly two outlets available—one near the fridge/microwave area and one by the stove. If you have multiple devices to charge after a day on the water, we highly recommend tossing a small power bar or portable battery bank into your bag!
The Bathhouse: Similar to a Provincial Park, our central washroom is a short, scenic walk away. It is fully equipped with hot water, private showers, and flush toilets.
Fresh Water: For cooking and dishes, a fresh-water well is located nearby. A quick stroll to the pump provides all the water you’ll need for the cabin. Our water is professionally tested by Eurofins with results posted on-site.Tip: While the water is drinkable, feel free to bring your own bottled drinking water along if you want to save yourself a few trips to the well pump during your stay.
Privacy & Proximity
We love the location of this cabin, but we want to make sure it's the right fit for your stay!
The Setting: The cabin is nestled close to a couple of our dedicated seasonal RV sites. While you have your own dedicated cabin space, you will see and hear your neighbors enjoying the outdoors.
The Sunrise: The cabin offers a gorgeous view of the sunrise, which is a shared highlight of the property.
Best Suited For: Guests who enjoy the social, communal energy of a classic fishing resort and campground. If you’re looking for complete, remote isolation, one of our more secluded sites might be a better fit!
Outdoor Fun & Waterfront
Campfire Traditions: Your cabin includes its own dedicated firepit, and we provide 1 complimentary bag of firewood to get your first night's campfire rolling.
On the Water: Want to get out on Moira Lake? We have canoes, kayaks, and fishing boat rentals available directly on-site to help you explore the water or chase the lake's trophy Muskie.
Explore Centre Hastings & Madoc
While our resort feels wonderfully tucked away, you are just a few minutes from the heart of Centre Hastings and the vibrant town of Madoc! It’s the perfect balance of rustic lake life and local convenience.
Calling All Motorcyclists: We are proud to announce that we are officially featured on Ride the Highlands! If you are touring Ontario’s best winding roads, our cabin makes the perfect, rider-friendly basecamp to park the bike, kick back by the lake, and rest up for the next day's route.
The Hastings Heritage Trail: We are located right near this famous multi-use trail system. Whether you are looking to hike, bike, or bring the ATVs out for a day of exploring the old railway lines, it’s an incredible gateway to the region's natural beauty.
Local Food & Drink: Don't worry about cooking every night! Madoc has fantastic local highlights for food and drink, from cozy local diners and classic chip trucks to great spots to grab a morning coffee or an evening drink.
Convenience Nearby: Need to stock up on extra cooler ice, groceries, or supplies? Everything you need is just a short drive away in town.
What to Bring
To keep things simple and rustic, we provide high-quality mattress protectors on all beds. We ask that you bring:
Bedding & Pillows (Linen rentals available)
Towels for the beach and bathhouse
Fishing Gear and life jackets (if you have preferred sizes)
Coolers for extra ice (available nearby in Madoc)
Drinking water (Optional—if you want to save trips to the well pump!)
Forgot something? With advance notice, we’re happy to provide a full linen set (sheets, blankets, and pillows) for one bedroom for a $25 fee, payable upon arrival.
It’s all part of the classic cottage tradition—slowing down and enjoying the Great Outdoors!
